General Safety Information
We carefully design our products, send them through a year of focus study with a team of parents, then send them off for testing by a third party laboratory facility. We run every run test that is available. We specifically test our materials and coatings frequently to be sure our toys and accessories meet or exceed government recommendations limiting heavy metals, lead and phthalates in children’s items. All Urban Infant products are completely free of BPA and phthalates and lead content and are non-toxic and kid-friendly. None of our products contain loose pieces or removable parts that could pose a choking hazard for young children. Even our zippers are oversized and finger-friendly for little hands. All passing results are verified by 3rd party independently accredited testing laboratories, considered to be the best in the industry.

Bamboo Developmental Toys
All Urban Infant toys are manufactured with 100% pressed organic bamboo, a high quality, safe, and eco-freindly material. We are proud to be manufacturing with this sustainable material, and feel we are assisting with the anti-plastic movement in the children’s toy industry. It took our team over a year to secure the best plant for manufacturing. All Urban Infant toys are assembled using a certified E-Zero formaldehyde free glue in place of traditional toxic wood glue. We also use only organic color pigment and water based coatings. We are committed to find the best eco-friendly materials that prove not only good for children, but also for our environment.

Tot Cot® Nap Mats
Flame-resistant chemicals are never applied to our nap mats. The outer fabric of the Tot Cot® contain 50% polyester; and the way that the cotton and polyester broadcloth are blended and weaved, this makes the bags naturally flame-resistant - meaning they have a slow "burn rate" and minimal "ease of ignition." All Tot Cot® nap mats conform to, or exceed, U.S. flammability test requirements.

Packie® Backpacks

All backpack bag fabric is subjected to strength testing to ensure that the material can support the average toddler daily needs.

Yummie® Lunch boxes
All lunch box liners are tested and approved for food-contact safety. All insulation material is non-toxic and food-safe.

CPSIA Compliance Statement from the Urban Infant
Thanks for your inquiry about our Bamboo products regarding our compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) regulations. In August 2008, the CPSIA made a number of changes to consumer product safety laws in the USA. Under this law, the amount of total lead allowed in children’s products was gradually reduced. Effective August 14, 2011 no children’s product may contain more than 100 parts per million (ppm) total lead. The lead content of any surface coating is limited to 90 ppm.

All Urban Infant Bamboo teething products are compliant with the CPSIA regulations. Since our founding, we have had a comprehensive testing program in place for all of the products we produce and sell. We have all testing certificates readily available for products produced after November 2008 as required by the CPSIA as further assurance of our products’ compliance to CPSIA.
