RECYCLED
PET FLEECE ON THE TOT COT

We are happy to announce, after months of sourcing and testing, our new line of Tot Cot sleeping bags for children are produced with a blanket composed of recycled PET plastic bottles!

According to our manufacturer, it is estimated each blanket saves approximately 39 bottles from a landfill. The use of PET bottles as a raw materials in polyester textile production to manufacture recycled fiber is a growing trend. The process involves cleaning, crushing, depolymerization, distillation purification, followed by spinning, weaving, fabric processing and finally making the materials for clothes and fabrics. Just one more step in today’s shift toward green production.

RECLAIMED ROPE PRODUCTS

In an effort to recycle products that would typically end up in a landfill, The Urban Infant is currently designing several products manufactured from reclaimed ropes.

The unique use of this material provides positive environmental and social impact, while raising ecological awareness. Our manufacturing would be done in conjunction with our friends in Boulder called Ecologic Designs. We encourage parents to explain this unique recycling method to their children, family, and friends!

EARTHCYCLE PROJECT PACKAGING

We are currently developing the use of Earthcycle packaging, composed of Palm Pulp. It is biodegradable, nongenetically modified and certified compostable (ASTM D6400). Just toss it in the backyard compost!

After less than 90 days, your Earthcycle Packaging will have decomposed into an organic soil component, humus, which is a contributor to healthy soil. If Earthcycle Packaging were used for all US rigid, pre-packed produce, the resulting humus would enable the growth of more than 51 million pounds of tomatoes!
